Thankful for Music and Dance

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours! I hope you are surrounded with people you and love and who love you, and that your blessings exceed the food you consume this day!  May we remember those who go without and seek ways that we can serve others as God calls and directs us to do.

Today I give thanks for the gift of music. I love music. I was brought up in a house that always had the classical music station tuned in, and every Saturday afternoon, the Metropolitan Opera was playing in the living room radio. That love of music has continued with me for many years. I usually have songs playing on the computer or radio (or Spotify), and now that Thanksgiving is here, the Christmas playlist comes out of storage and fills my days.

This past Sunday, we were blessed with incredible music at all our worship services. In the evening, the group “Lost and Found” were at Epiphany for their final time in Ohio. 29 years of sharing music are coming to an end, but we are blessed with the memories and the songs the group shared. There will be many musical offerings in the coming weeks (check out the website, newsletter and other information coming your way).

Music is a gift from God. it brings us joy, comfort, memories and often a message. The scriptures are filled with songs, and what better way to offer God praise than through the gift of music!

In celebration of music, I want to share with you three offerings – the first is an oldie but a goodie. It comes from a TV Christmas special that aired back in 1977.

The second offering is a video I saw last year at Christmas time from my favorite group, The Piano Guys.

Finally, not a Christmas song, but a song that celebrates the gift of music and dance. When I was little, I wished I could dance like Fred Astaire! But alas, God did not offer that gift to me. I still enjoy a good dance video, and this one takes dozens of scenes from old movies and puts them to the music of “Uptown Funk.” Believe me, it will get you moving!

All that is good is gift from God.

Thank you, God for music and dance!

Peace,
Pastor Charlie
